Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located in the area of the Guantou Village of the Shiqian Peak, West Hills of Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province. It was named by Norin E. in 1922-1924.

Synonym: Shihchienfeng Gr


Lithology and Thickness

Sandstone. Composed mainly of fresh-red siltstone and feldspar-rich sandstone, comprising the Sunjiagou Fm of the Lopingian Epoch of Permian Period, and the Liujiagou Fm and the Heshangou Fm of the Triassic Period.
